Responsibilities and Qualifications
Database administrators are responsible for maintaining and installing databases, while keeping performance, reliability, and uptime a priority. The senior database administrator is responsible for advising management on new solutions, improvements to process, and finding new technologies to further improve our level of service. This position engages in architecture definition, assists with budgets and vendor management, planning, technology direction, project management as well as mentoring of team members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Experience, education, licenses, certifications, and specific knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.)
2 years’ experience providing database administration in any combination of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle database environments.
Experience with cloud environments and integration is desirable, not required
Organizational skills; work effectively through multiple work queues
Experience with basic principles of change management, ITIL or other framework/methodology
Creative problem solving skills
Experience supporting highly available applications and systems environments (preferred)
Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 6 years related experience in complex systems design and systems software and support
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of scripting languages, database software, and operating systems
Current with system performance monitoring tools; system management tools; principles and best practices of effective system management in a global enterprise
Technical knowledge and experience in support of global enterprise solutions
Exceptional problem troubleshooting skillset
In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery and replication technologies/strategy
Ability to work independently and with a team to achieve team objectives
Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures
Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Works closely with clients and with other system groups to capture business requirements and project scope; setting team’s priorities and deliverables to best serve the overall business’s objectives
Design, install, test, and maintain databases and related applications
Develop technology roadmaps
Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose problems.
Solve complex problems with many variables
Reporting system status to key stakeholders
Provides written project scope and updates on key projects to management
Facilitates internal and external audit and provides supporting documentation as required
Leads and supports Continuous Improvement opportunities
Other activities as required to support the IT department or other business initiatives of the company

Education:
Bachelor's degree in information technology or AS degree and equivalent experience.

ADDITIONAL SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
Sound knowledge of the software used for both server and database and well- acquainted with the advanced technologies
Ability to use the available resources wisely and establish efficient and supportable systems
Regularly update knowledge about the new and advanced technologies available in the market and use these technologies in the designs
Project implementation management experience
Written and verbal skills to document and present requirements to business and technical teams along with cost-benefit analysis and business impact analysis
Expert in Microsoft SQL Server (all versions), Azure Database
Experience with MySQL, Oracle, VMWare, Windows Server, Linux
Expert with PowerShell, SQL, and CMD
Experience with Python, Bash
Experience with a large enterprise environment (2,000+ users)
Experience with distributed/multiple datacenters
Experience (5+ years) with Enterprise Change Management and ITIL
Ability to work remotely, with light travel requirements (0-5%)
