Business Analyst - HIPAA Compliant Coding
Overview of Position
The Business Analyst assists the R&D staff in understanding the organization’s operational needs for both automated and manual solutions to business systems and procedures of limited to moderate scope. The Business Analyst is involved in planning, organizing and conducting detailed analytical studies to define problems, identify deficiencies and improve solutions which impact the organization’s effectiveness, and provide the basis for issue resolution. They collaborate with users to define business requirements for system enhancements and new functionalities to achieve process improvements.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Collaborates with the Operations and Client Services to research and analyze client requests.
Assists in proactively identifying areas of improvement to ensure client satisfaction
For simple requests, performs analysis of business and user needs, constructs requirements documentation, translates requirements into proper system requirement specifications, and reviews requirements and specifications with internal stakeholders
Defines quality attributes and/or develops basic test scenarios to support unit and functional testing
Manages expectations and effectively communicates to team members, stakeholders, as well as internal IT stakeholders and leaders
Familiar with legal aspects of information systems, such as HIPAA, SOX, PHI, Medicare Fraud, Waste and Abuse
Applies general industry and regulatory compliance knowledge to the benefit of the business
As directed, the BA will participate in an agile development team, ensuring features and functionality requested by users align with business goals for the product, particularly as goals and products evolve over time, as well as ensuring the right information is available to the engineering teams, with the right amount of detail, and at the right time
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Minimum 1+ years of professional experience in a technical and analytical role, preferably in healthcare
EDUCATION: Associate’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience
What critical skills are needed for you to consider someone for this position?
Analytical and research oriented
MS Office proficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must work well both independently and in a collaborative team environment
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Experience with HIPPA Compliant Coding /billing, and project management experience preferred.
Experience in Billing departments of Hospitals or Physician Groups that do “Posting” of data - Accounts Receivable for Hospitals and Physicians preferred.
