Santa Cruz Bicycles REACT Developer in Salt Lake City, Utah

Santa Cruz Bicycles, Juliana Bicycles, and Cervelo Cycles? SLC-based digital team is hiring a full-stack developer to build new online experiences for customers across our brands. As the next member of our team you will design and build new responsive and accessible experiences in ReactJS, Gatsby, and NextJS, as well as contribute to architectural and software design decisions as we launch new features.

As we migrate to a headless CMS, we need talented full stack developers who are interested in owning development, from UI to deployment.

You might be right for this position if you love exploring new technologies and new ways of building for the web, have a passion for design, and a commitment to building sites that are excellent when consumed on a mobile device or with a screen reader. Our highly collaborative team works in an agile scrum framework, and values cross-functional talents and communication skills. You should not only be ready to conceptualize and implement technical solutions to our design requirements, but also to help up level the team's abilities through ongoing learning, advocating for best practices, and proposing process improvements.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Build amazing web experiences for external and internal customers of Santa Cruz Bicycles, Juliana Bicycles, Reserve and Cervelo Cycles

  • Contribute to architectural and software design decisions as we build new technologies and launch new features

  • Collaborate with other developers with code reviews, group sprint planning, and pair programming

  • Use professional skills to improve technology throughout the organization

  • Be a thoughtful leader and demonstrate hands-on software engineering capability to ensure efficient delivery of quality product

  • Work with your team to evaluate, scope, and estimate key future state capabilities

  • Translate user stories into performant, multi-browser compliant, responsive, web experiences

  • Continuously improve the software, the team, and yourself

  • Advocate for the user from planning to delivery

Competencies and Requirements

  • A passion for software and bikes

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience, or relevant training

  • Experience in at least one modern JavaScript app framework like React or AngularJS

  • Excellent CSS skills including preprocessor frameworks, evaluating trade-offs of different approaches to layout (flexbox, grid, etc.), and advocating for best practices within the team

  • Skills developing integrations using REST APIs

  • Familiarity with ecommerce and commerce technologies

  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator

  • Adept at ruthless prioritization of competing tasks and schedules

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend and explain documents in English. Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.
