Critigen has an opportunity for a GIS Consultant / Configuration Specialist who wants to further their career by working with our Salt Lake City team as a core contributor to the enterprise geospatial web services team at the Geospatial Technology and Applications Center (GTAC), the Forest Service center of geospatial excellence. We are currently looking for a team member who has excellent problem-solving abilities, persistence to find solutions, and is comfortable working in a collaborative team environment to advance the mission of the Forest Service. You will perform activities, including data management, data analysis, mapping application configuration, workflow design, and project documentation in support of a wide variety of USFS efforts. Understanding of Esri geospatial technology stack, such as ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, in support of large enterprise level workflows and product delivery, is essential for this role. You will interpret organizationally complex business requirements and advise solutions based on geospatial industry best practices, and keep specific tasks organized in a dynamic work environment.
Some examples of work performed in this position would be:
Coordinating with Forest Service Office of Sustainability and Climate to publish authoritative Agency data and utilize that data to create web based interactive products that further the goals of the program area.
Working with the Forest Service National Partnership Office to utilize authoritative agency data in a series of geospatial tools that help land managers discover opportunities where private capital investments can restore landscapes.
Working with the Forest Service Ecosystem Management Coordination Program to define how existing Agency geospatial data and technology can be applied to streamline environmental analysis and decision making.
This project position is expected to be 1 year assignment with the possibility of an extension. The position is located in the Salt Lake City offices for the USFS Geospatial Technology and Applications Center.

Primary Skills and Experience:
Strong and proven understanding of spatial consulting with 3-5 years of experience working with data management and data analysis in an Esri environment.
Experience working to install and configure web-based geospatial applications, such as ArcGIS Online.
Experience consulting on geospatial applications and technology, including activities such as requirements gathering, project and task documentation, and geospatial solution design.
Authoring, configuring, and troubleshooting web-based geospatial data and mapping services (WMS, WFS, etc).
Experience with workflows that ingest, update and manage data as file-based datasets, and use relational databases.
Monitoring geospatial frameworks/systems for errors, failures or anomalies, and troubleshoot observed issues to implement technical response measures.
Experience documenting architecture and technical components of geospatial framework and systems including dependencies, parameters, etc.
Knowledge of Python to develop and maintain automated geopspatial modeling using Esri, ERDAS, and open source applications and tools.
Designing innovative solutions that solve unique client business challenges.

Strong organizational and collaboration skills are required.
BS or MS in either Computer Science, Geo Science, or Natural Resources
Experience and exposure to natural resource industries desirable, such as forestry, fish & wildlife, and ecology
