Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a QA Director to join the Wattstopper Team in Pleasant Grove, UT. This position is responsible for developing strategy as well as leading the QA team in tactical implementation of the Software CoE QA Frameworks and processes. This role leads QA engineers and manages the successful execution of the continual comprehensive testing and validation of Legrand’s Software systems -- inclusive of cloud, mobile, desktop and web applications, as well as embedded SW on gateway devices. A heavy emphasis on automation frameworks, automated test suites and manual test suites and the extensive skills and experience in QA automation are requisite. They will coordinate and lead a team of QA engineers in the successful execution thereof. They are able, together with the SW and FW teams to collaboratively specify and then attain fundamental operational QA KPI’s.

These automated and manual test suites execute within Continuous Integration environments, as well as stand-alone, and run against desktop, mobile, and cloud software applications and systems. Subsequent reporting and triage of defects collaboratively with the development team(s) are part of the cycle. Validation of SW/FW Version Suites prior to release is a key aspect of this work. Post-release validation and monitoring is also inclusive in the QA model.

This role leads teams of QA Engineers in developing and sustaining these QA systems and processes to mature and release Legrand software used to commission and control best-in-class residential and commercial building control systems. This work encompasses multiple product lines and technologies on a PaaS distributed architecture system.

This role leads one flagship customer project directly to remain intimate with the effectiveness of QA processes in the SW COE organization.

What Will You Do?

Main Activities:

  • Organization: Manager and Technical Leader model

  • Main Interface: Internal – engineering, product management. External – other customer business units to the Software Center of Excellence

  • Budget: Provides input to department budget; develops and/or provides data for budgets related to projects.

Main Job Duties:

  • Drive process improvement to support quality strategic goals, advancing quality assurance initiatives.

  • Own and drive process improvement throughout Software CoE.

  • Work on the development and improvement of methods and procedures that improve product launches.

  • Architect, design, code automated, manual and semi-automated test suites utilizing industry frameworks.

  • Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle via injection of QA processes and test suites within the CI workflow

  • Analysis and maintenance of QA support and ongoing validation of current applications.

  • Be capable of working with a software and product development teams in a fast-paced and innovative technology environment.

  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Required Skills

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in designing, developing automated and manual test suites.

  • 3 years' experience in leading QA teams

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Expertise in C#, Python or similar language in scripting workflow automation

  • Familiar with the Agile development methodology, Lean Engineering for Software

  • Knowledge of and experience with object-oriented architecture and design.

  • Proficiency building integration, white box, black box tests and in data-driven testing and similar Software QA methodologies.

  • Must have proficient programming skills, including familiarity with data types, syntax and control structures.

  • Able to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently using tools such as 8D, and RCCA. Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.

  • Requires strong organizational, team leadership and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.

  • Must have strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.

  • Demonstrated problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.

  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand customers’ needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.
