Oracle Java Performance Lead - Cloud Engineering Infrastructure Development in Ogden, Utah

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

Our team is part of the Oracle Management Cloud (OMC) organization, determined to automate the work of managing critical applications and computing resources in production. OMC is a new product comprised of a suite of applications and a unified model, all built on a modern cloud architecture utilizing modular and scalable microservices. Our team is developing the Gen 2 Application Performance Monitoring (APM) as a holistic solution that aims to cover all aspects of applications monitoring and diagnostics.

The APM product is part of the existing Oracle Management Cloud suite, and the Gen 2 Oracle Cloud Observability and Management Platform. APM provides visibility across the vast array of complex, heterogeneous, multi-tiered, distributed applications which process the information that companies need to operate.

The APM Agents team is looking for a bright, motivated, team-oriented software development lead with strong problem solving skills and a passion to build software to solve important real world business problems. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing revenue generating product and team, learn new technologies, work on distributed end-to-end algorithms, and innovate to efficiently (emphasis on performance and scalability) provide more visibility into large complex distributed software deployments. It’s a unique opportunity as Oracle is among the few companies in the world that own the complete stack (Applications, Middleware, Database, OS, VM, Servers, Storage) and APM is part of Oracle’s solution that helps monitor and diagnose business transactions that flow across it all! This is an excellent system engineering opportunity that involves researching how various industry standard technologies/languages (Java, .Net, Ruby, Node.js, etc.) and communication protocols work, how developers and customers (Cloud-based and on-premise) use them, and building software to monitor and diagnose them efficiently.

Required:

  • Experienced 7 years in developing mission critical Java systems software

  • Platform versatility: comfortable working on Linux and Windows

  • Working knowledge of network stack, operating systems, virtualization

  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, results-oriented, able to work independently and in a team

  • Good communication skills

Desired:

  • Experience with AOP, Byte code instrumentation, APM Products

  • Windows .Net (C# and C ), Ruby, Node.js, Python, PHP

  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, PL/SQL, Big Data
