Key goals of this position include:

  • Manages IT teams that design/develop/test or acquire/adapt/test application software.

  • Provides overall direction and guidance to assigned teams led by Managers and Directors.

  • Coordinates schedules/departmental activities with direct reporting teams and other leveraged IT teams.

  • Works with Product Management stakeholders on long-term staffing and product delivery strategies.

  • Prepares executive activity and progress reports regarding key project status and initiatives.

  • Note: This position reports to a senior IT Executive.

Essential Duties:

  • Has ultimate responsibility for timely delivery of high-quality, and consistent product solutions to market.

  • Lead a cross-functional, multi-team department that focuses on software development, quality assurance testing, and performance engineering.

  • Can quickly consume and understand business strategy and operating models; can apply gap analysis techniques to create long-term technical strategy.

  • Significant offshore/remote management involved in managing software development teams

  • Manage administrative responsibilities including merit/bonus reviews, providing performance feedback, hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions as required.

  • Can ensure technical and social capabilities match business needs and goals.

  • Can create and maintain technical roadmap and architectural development models for the organization.

  • Can effectively mentor guiding principles and standards to a team; while leading technical change and transformation.

  • Manage 5+ direct reports; with managerial and operational teams of their own.

  • Ability to create presentation decks and explain complex issues in a simple manner.

  • Ability to influence without authority to deliver solutions by partnering with matrixed team members and leveraged shared-services.

  • Heavily engage with Product Management & Business stakeholders to execute product roadmaps and meet company needs.

  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with vendors, customers, stakeholders, peers, and team members.

  • Responsible for progressively building people, processes and technologies that are scalable, resilient, and “future-proof”.

  • Foster “Extreme Ownership” for work done by the Engineering organization.

  • Understand the payment industry technology direction to contribute to strategic planning.

  • Business Acumen – must be able to approach technology issues from a business perspective.

  • Technical Competence – understand how to design, build, code and run platforms that support business objectives.

  • Leadership Skills – create and communicate a compelling vision for technology that others follow.

Other Duties:

  • Expected to participate in cross-departmental strategic initiatives

  • Leverage knowledge of Agile & Lean SDLC Methodologies to participate in high-level process optimization conversations.

  • Must be able to deep-dive into various data stores to produce meaningful insights, operational intelligence, customer experience visualizations, and proactive trend analyses.

  • Must be passionate about creating solutions, and solving complex problems – in the right way, at the right time, and for the right reasons.

  • International travel to represent the team and products to stakeholders and partners is expected.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience required

  • 10+ years of IT and business/Payment Systems industry work experience

  • 10+ years of management experience required, managing multiple teams and cross-disciplinary functions

  • Advanced technical and business knowledge in software development, quality assurance, project management, and other related disciplines

  • Has collaborated with business and IT leadership to set direction and drive project execution

  • Possesses a drive to continually increase quality and delivery while reducing costs and inefficiencies

  • Managed a complex IT environment and multi-site projects using best practices

  • Experience managing both onshore and offshore teams

  • Experience in a global environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong personnel management skills

  • Must be self-directed and confident

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Masters Degree

  • Background in payments gateways or systems

  • Experience running SaaS solutions in a public cloud (e.g. Azure, AWS or GCP)

  • PCI and/or cardholder data encryption standards knowledge
