Do you love growing teams and developing engineer’s careers? Would you like to lead a smart and inventive team building the platform that helps engineers focus more time building features and less time on boilerplate? Would you like to help design and lead teams that are building next generation technology for Vivint? Excellent! We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to join our Vivint IO and eCommerce team in Lehi, UT!

Besides leading and growing your engineers you will be partnering with technology teams across Vivint to help evangelize Vivint IO, the cloud based micro service architecture that we’re building, deploy your engineers to guide and support teams as they make the transition to the Vivint IO platform, and develop a strategy for easy to consume APIs.

We’re looking for someone who can lead a fast paced, innovative team, helping engineers tackle challenging problems and develop reliable, scalable solutions. As an Engineering Manager at Vivint you will have responsibilities that span people, engineering, architecture, and delivery. We will rely on you to ensure that engineers grow as they deliver on our mission and goals. You will be someone who can provide technical leadership while influencing culture, to facilitate technical delivery, to work with your team on local strategy, practices, and execution, to coordinate with other teams across Vivint. Ideally, you’re someone who can be involved at the code level even though that isn’t where most of your time will be spent.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build, lead and serve an effective team of engineers through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.

  • Work closely with your engineers and project manager to enable sustainable and timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs.

  • Facilitate a partnership between engineers, product managers, and designers to set the right goals and drive solutions across the Vivint IO platform as well as other new initiatives that are developed.

  • Advocate for and implement engineering best-practices and develop technical strategy to guide short and long-term plans.

  • Partner with other leaders as we craft and evolve a learning and agile organization while nurturing a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in-line with our values.

Who You Are:

  • You love developing and growing engineers and have a track record of do so; you thrive when developing great people, not just great products.

  • You are passionate about teamwork and collaboration, while coaching and mentoring software developers to deliver timely, high-quality software.

  • You have experience in cultivating a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environments. (This doesn’t have to be management experience, many team leads, senior and principle engineers do this very well)

  • You have led complex engineering efforts and know what it takes to deliver while maintaining a healthy team.

  • You love solving problems with creative solutions

  • Self-starter, you don’t need someone telling you what to do and exactly how to do it

  • Focused on measurable results and user experience, whether those users are engineers or external customers
