Role description:

If you enjoy working with other teams and verticals to help drive success and deliver results this position may be interesting to you. The Vivint Automation, Release and Tools team are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer to help scale our testing. In this role, you will be responsible for building out a new system to perform testing at scale of the Vivint system in an effort to reproduce customer issues reported from the field. This system needs to be ephemeral with the ability to easily ramp up and down both on premises hardware and AWS cloud-based instances. Another key area will be working with vertical engineering partners to understand how to best design solutions that enable scaled testing efforts.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience with building software

  • 5+ years’ Docker building images and optimizing images

  • 5+ years’ Kubernetes or similar docker image cluster deployment

  • Solid experience with container orchestration and management

  • Experience with Jenkins and build pipelines

  • Soft skills working cross team and organization

  • Configuration as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or Puppet)

  • Cloud Experience (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)

  • BS in computer science or 5 years’ experience in software quality or development

Desired Skills

  • Development experience in the following:

  • Python

  • Java

  • Build experience with a pipeline system such as:

  • Jenkins

  • CircleCI

  • Travis CI

  • Understanding of KPI’s and how to define valuable KPI’s to assess solutions
