Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Software Engineer This position will be located at Hill AFB, UT and will support the Ground Subsystems Support Contract (GSSC) program.
Our team started out as a small research project utilizing graph databases and data science methods to integrate and mobilize data streams, analyze the complete picture and serve the findings to the end users. The novel methods we have developed have contributed to large scale success and growth. The team is now matrixed over multiple projects ranging from historic ICBM ground systems sustainment, to aircraft reliability and fleet readiness, to new system deployment optimization.
This team holds onto its roots and continues to look for new and better ways to approach problems. Our solutions are making large scale impacts by mobilizing dormant data, applying a range of analysis techniques covering broad range of areas such as complex network analysis, natural language processing, reliability assessments, and others. We distill and publish our findings through reports and interactive user interfaces.
The successful applicant will:
Work closely with others in a cross disciplinary team consisting of software engineers and data scientists in a fast pace Agile environment, to generate products and high impact solutions to problems affecting the defense industry today.
Participate in the design, creation, and implementation of web & desktop applications using modern stack consisting of Neo4J, MongoDB, NodeJS, and React
Develop complex dashboards and user interfaces to satisfy customer requirements
Manipulate and combine large amounts of data from multiple sources together in a reliable and scalable manner
Work with subject matter experts to understand and capture meaning of data
Communicate advanced concepts and information in an understandable manner for audiences of varying levels of competency
Participate in code reviews

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related quantitative field
Minimum 5 years of relevant development experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
CSS preprocessing experience such as Sass, Less, CSS in JS
Working knowledge of REST API development or GraphQL.
Familiarity with version control (Git preferred)
Experience with Node.js (Express, Apollo, Koa).
Some familiarity with full stack development (frontend, backend, database)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins/Travis/CircleCI
Experience with design and development of database technology such as SQL, NoSQL, and GraphDBs
A working knowledge of graph data structures and graph algorithms
Familiarity with Agile and Agile processes
Ability to communicate effectively with team and customer interactions
Strong written communication skills
Self-directed when situation requires (open to research tasks and open ended problem solving)
Active Secret Security Clearance or higher
