Summary

This National Guard position is for a ITSPEC (APPSW) (Title 5), Position Description Number T5242000 and is part of the UT USPFO For Utah, National Guard. This selecting supervisor is Mr. Kenneth Allmon. This vacancy is open statewide.

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES: This is NOT an all-inclusive list. Reviews and analyzes the business practices of serviced organizations to determine those practices that could be significantly enhanced by the modification of existing or the development of new automated systems. Receives and evaluates requests for data processing projects. Conducts studies concerning the feasibility of proposed new systems development projects. Reviews and analyzes current systems. With approval, completes modifications and improvements to provide better service and more efficient utilization of personnel and equipment. Develops reports on the status projects. Integrates multiple operating systems and coordinates between functional areas that necessitates unusual coordination and organization requirements. Codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs. Responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding. Writes and maintains application operation instructions for assigned programs.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-11: Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-09) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public three (3) years which includes: Knowledge of a variety of operating systems (ex. Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Unix etc.) on desktop and server, Knowledge of the principles and methods used for planning and managing the implementation, update, and integration of information system components, Skill in modifying application code and devising software patches or workarounds, documenting problems and advising the responsible party on support issues, Knowledge of, and skill in applying system design techniques, programming languages and hardware capabilities to analyze requests for new and modified applications, Knowledge of system diagnostic tools and structured techniques for the recovery of failed systems and data access, Knowledge of the provisions and state-of-art hardware, software, and various approaches to networking and interfaces, as well as existing C4 infrastructure, to determine the applicability and susceptibility for use within the state, Knowledge of a wide range of IT standards, principles, concepts, methods, policies, and authorized approaches. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-09: Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-07) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public three (3) years which includes: Knowledge of a variety of operating systems (ex. OR If you are using education as a qualifying factor you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively high level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Must submit transcripts.

Education

If you are using education as a qualifying factor you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively high level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
